Blackcat Music Summer Showcase gives spotlight to hometown talent

by Lisa Schauer

Kirk Farm Road in Hancock was the venue for the Blackcat Music Summer Showcase on a sweltering Saturday, August 26.

Eight different acts and collaborations entertained the audience under a large wooden pavilion, following a hearty picnic of hot dogs, hamburgers, hummus, cucumber salad, cakes and cases of bottled water.

Children played cricket and soared wooden gliders across the wide grassy field as music flowed through the summer air.

Entertainers young and old delivered lively performances of rock, folk, country and pop music through the decades.

The Blackcat School of Rock and BC School of Rock Jr. bands closed the show with a rousing performance.

The Saturday concert showcased the various musical groups supported by the BlackCat Music Cooperative, a non-profit dedicated to music education of all ages in the region.
