Annual cross walk set for next Friday

by Geoff Fox

A Hancock Easter tradition will continue next Friday, April 7, as parishioners from various churches take to the street for the annual Cross Walk.

The Cross Walk starts at 10 a.m. in Widmeyer Park, travel along Main Street and up Church Street to the final destination of St. Peter’ s Catholic Church.

The annual Good Friday Cross Walk is open to everyone no matter the age or faith. Everyone is invited to walk, sing, pray, and reflect in the annual remembrance of Jesus traveling the road to the Cross, regardless of religious affiliation.

The walk begins in Widmeyer Park with Rev. Steven McCarty of St. Thomas Episcopal Church reading scripture and a prayer. From there, the walk will go to the United Methodist Church with Rev. Becki Wessinger.

Deacon Jim Mason of St. Peter’s will be presenting a message outside Martha’ s House as well.

Breathed Park will have Pastor Jeff Hawbaker of Orchard Ridge Church of God reading and praying. The walk will then head to the Meditation Garden at Hancock Presbyterian Church with Rev. Terry Martin-Minnich’s reflection.

The walk will then head up Church Street to St. Thomas Episcopal Church and a reflection from Chaplain (COL, retired) Ron Martin-Minnich of the Hancock Presbyterian Church.

The pilgrimage concludes at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Jack Lombardi closing the Cross Walk.

The Greater Hancock Council of Churches sponsors the event.
