Ricky Eugene Unger
1960-2025
Ricky Eugene Unger, age 65, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at his home.
Born July 9, 1960 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of Melvin Edgar Unger, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and the late Bernadine Mason Unger.
He was a member of Hancock Assembly of God.
Ricky was a high school graduate. He was veteran and served in the United States Army.
Ricky worked as a supervisor with Rayloc and was a custodian with Washington County Schools.
He enjoyed camping and tinkering with cars and tractors. Ricky collected and loved chopping wood. He loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildrens’ sports events. His favorite Christmas movie of all time was “The Christmas Story”.
In addition to his father, Ricky is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie Lou “Queenie” Rinard Unger at home; four children, Ricky Eugene Unger, Jr. (Kelly) of Gore, Va., Chelsea Nicole Mills and her significant other, Matthew Butts of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Wesley Todd Unger (Kimmi) of Taneytown, Md., and Joshua William Unger of Hancock, Md.; one sister, Thelma Ann Beall (Stan); one brother Melvin Junior Unger; six grandchildren, Morgan Hixson, Layndon Unger, Cameron Hixson, Lilli Unger, Lakyin Hixson and David Mills and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at noon on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Hancock Assembly of God, 431 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hancock, Md., with Pastors Chris Bashem and Donald Preston officiating.
Burial with graveside military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard was in Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Warfordsburg, Pa.
