Pamela Kay Trumpower
1955-2026
Pamela Kay Trumpower, 71, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, Md., after a long battle with diabetes and renal failure.
Pam was born on June 17, 1955, in Hagerstown, Md., the daughter of the late Chester Jacob and Dana Maris Sensel.
She graduated from Hancock High School in 1973 and continued her education at Hagerstown Junior College. Years later, she proved it’s never too late, earning her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Frostburg State University in 1999.
Pam had a head for numbers and an entrepreneur’s spirit. She spent many years working as an accountant and bookkeeper in the DMV area before setting out on her own. Over the years she launched many business ventures, the best known being Whiteside Tax & Accounting in Hancock, which she ran for 18 years, helping local families and businesses with their tax and accounting needs.
Pam was sassy and spirited, with high standards and an even bigger heart. She was her daughters’ biggest cheerleader and a fiercely loyal friend. Life handed her more than her share of storms, including years of illness and hospital stays that would have stopped most people. Yet time and again she defied the odds and came back swinging, as if she simply refused to be counted out.
Pam had a strong faith in God and was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hancock. She loved her family above anything else and delighted in keeping up with her grandchildren’s adventures and antics. She also loved Christmas, and her room was always decorated for the season. She gave generously to others, even when she had nothing left to give.
After many years in Big Pool with her husband, Bill, Pam spent her last seven years at Hagerstown Health Care, where it seemed everyone knew her name. She made many friends there and became the resident party planner and activities queen, always ready to organize the next celebration and bring people together.
Her family is deeply grateful to the nurses, aides, and staff who cared for her. They treated her with patience, and they became her friends, showing her kindness on the hard days as well as the good ones.
She is survived by her daughters, Meredith Moria Hendershot of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Amy Brooke Damoulakis and her husband, Nick, of Urbana, Md. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, John Edward Damoulakis, Paul Edward Hendershot, and Dana Estelle Damoulakis; her sister, Debra Ann Sensel of Reston, Va.; and her sister-in-law, Ellen Fulton Sensel of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Riley William “Bill” Trumpower, and her brother, Douglas Chester Sensel.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2 E. High Street, Hancock, Md. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m., with a meal and fellowship immediately afterward in the St. Thomas Parish Hall. Private burial will be Parkhead Cemetery in Big Pool, Md.
