The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has de- cided to host the second annual Festival of Trees this December at their church.
The event runs Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., at 200 Douglas Street. It is free for the public.
Local businesses, non- profit organizations, clubs, and families are invited to register to bring and decorate an artificial tree to share their mission or loved one’s memory.
New this year is an opportunity for families to decorate trees in memory of a loved one.
Last year, the church opened their Family History Center at the last minute and people were interested so they decided let people know it would be open again this year, organizer Wendy Weller said.
In addition to the trees, there will be nativity displays, Kids Corner with activities, picture booth for selfies, Christmas video, free refreshments, and the Family History Center. All who attend will be able to vote for their favorite trees.
Deadline to register is November 18 and people can register online by emailing Weller at festivaloftrees4 [email protected] and a registration form will be emailed. Set up for the event is scheduled for December 2 through 5. Times will be determined at a later date.
