Council to hold special meeting September 26

by Geoff Fox

Town officials will be holding a special town meeting on Thursday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m. in order to select a bid, hear a project presentation and select a date and time for Trick-or-Treat.

During the September town meeting, Town Manager Mike Faith opened three sealed bids for work to repair the roof at Hancock Town Hall and Community Center and new gutters. Bids were received from Ram Enterprise ($238,250), Hite Roofing Associates, Inc. ($187,000) of Cumberland, and Prime Roofing ($187,000) of Beltsville.

Officials wanted some time to look over the bids before making a decision on which bid to accept.

They will make that decision at the special town meeting next week.

Faith said there would also be a presentation from engineer RK&K with a project report.

There will also be a discussion and possible decision on when the town would host Trick-or-Treat next month.

Council meetings are held at the Hancock Town Hall, located at 126 West High Street. For more information, call 301-678-5622.
