Register to vote by April 23 to vote in May primary

Maryland residents have until next Tuesday, April 23 to register to vote, update their registration or change their party affiliation before the May 14 primary election.

Citizens who are residents of Maryland and who will be 18 years old by the next general election are eligible to register.

The public can use Maryland’s Online Voter Registration System to register to vote or can visit the local board of elections, local Department of Health offices, Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) offices, and select other state agency offices.

Washington County’s Board of Elections website has links to voter registration, registration updates of address or party, and ways to request a mail-in ballot for the May 14 primary election. The site can be found at https://www.washco-mdelections.org/

County residents can contact the elections office by calling 240-313-2050.

According to Washington County Voter Registration information as of March 31, the county has 100,675 registered voters. Of those, 30,839 are registered Democrats, 44,200 are registered Republicans, 23,794 are unaffiliated voters and the rest are in minor or “other” parties.
