by Trish Rudder

A new “First Friday” event sponsored by the Berkeley Springs-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce was approved by the Bath Town Council at their March 21 meeting.

The First Friday Food Truck Festival on West Fairfax Street will debut on May 5 from 3-9 p.m. next to the Berkeley Springs State Park along Fairfax Street.

The Chamber’s interim director, Jules Happy Rone, requested permission to close West Fairfax Street between Wilkes and Washington streets beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 5 for the food trucks to set up.

Almost Heaven Taters will be one of the food trucks on West Fairfax Street on May 5 for the Food Truck Festival that will be available from 3-9 p.m.

According to the press release, the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors president, Becky Stotler said “a food truck festival is something that many community members have expressed interest in, and our members have asked us to create more events and entertainment for Berkeley Springs residents and visitors. Once we announced this event, the support and enthusiasm has been overwhelming. We’re very excited to be able to do this for the very first time, and we can’t wait to sample from every vendor!”

The food options that will be available include BBQ, butterfly potatoes, corn dogs, funnel cakes, grilled cheese, shaved ice, tacos, desserts, and much more. There will also be an axe throwing booth, a bounce house and face painting.

Berkeley Springs State Park will be filled with classic cars from the Mountain State Cruisers, at their annual first Friday car show.

“The Chamber encourages attendees to come, get some food, walk around the town and enjoy the shops and businesses, many of which will be staying open late,” said the business group.
