JustServe launches in Hancock, helps local organizations connect with volunteers

Local nonprofit, faith-based, school, government and community organizations looking for volunteers have a simple, free way to share their needs through JustServe.org and the JustServe app.

Just Serve

JustServe is a volunteer-matching platform designed to help individuals, families and groups find meaningful service opportunities in their area or remotely. Organizations can post projects, share details about volunteer needs and connect with people who are actively seeking ways to serve.

Through the platform, organizations can list opportunities by location, schedule, interests and other project details, making it easier for volunteers to find service that matches their availability and skills. The JustServe app also helps volunteers search on the go, sign up for opportunities and use mobile tools such as maps and calendars to make serving more convenient.

The JustServe platform is active in 17 countries and territories across the globe and was created and funded by The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints as a gift to the community.  It is guided by the JustServe Advisory Council featuring leaders from secular and humanitarian organizations such as the American Red Cross, Catholic Relief Services, Rotary International, and the Salvation Army.

The JustServe Representative for Hanock, Md. and surrounding areas is Wendy Weller.  She set up JustServe tables at National Night Out on August 5 to share information with the community.

The Interfaith Service Coalition was spotlighted as the first organization in Hancock, Md. to be added to JustServe.org.  Five of its projects that need volunteers have been posted on the platform.

Local organizations that would like to be added to and post volunteer projects on JustServe.org are encouraged to contact Wendy Weller at [email protected].

Community members can visit JustServe.org or download the JustServe app to search for volunteer opportunities nearby.  T
