The Hancock Panthers track team traveled to Frederick County last Wednesday, April 15, to take part in a 12 team meet at Brunswick with teams from Washington and Frederick counties.

The Panthers placed in two events overall with most student-athletes achieving at least one personal best in the events they competed in.
Landyn Clark placed second in the boys long jump and Leland Clark placed third in boys disc.
The team of Landyn Clark as the first anchor, Ethan Hill as the second, Jayten McCarty as the third, and Conner Pogue boys 4×100 relay; Maia Godinez in the girls 100 and 200; Xia Hixon in the 200; Leland Clark and Ethan Hill in the boys shot put; and Jayten McCarty in the boys high jump all set personal bests at the meet.
Coach Greg Cartrette said he and Coach Brittany Waugh are “so proud” of the track team for the effort they are putting in to getting better and it is showing with each meet.
“What a pleasure it is to have student-athletes that are at practice to learn and get better,” Cartrette said. “It makes our job as coaches so much easier. Great job to all the student-athletes for the work they are putting in and the results they are getting.”
Cartrette also wanted to give Madi Booth, who suffered a season ending injury a few weeks ago, a special thanks for being involved with the team and supporting their efforts to get better at practice and at meets.
The track team will be in action this Friday, April 24, at Fort Hill High School in Cumberland.
