Beverly May Myers Cleary, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Born April 3, 1935, in Bino, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James B. and Lena M. (Harbaugh) Myers.
Beverly spent much of her life in the Greencastle and Chambersburg, Pa. area, with meaningful chapters also lived in Germany, South Carolina and, finally, West Virginia.
A 1953 graduate of Greencastle High School, she went on to build a long and dedicated career as a medical secretary with Orthopedic Associates in Chambersburg, Pa., where she worked for more than 25 years. She later continued her service with the federal government for 13 years until her retirement.
Beverly was a talented musician and singer playing the piano and singing across many genres of music from the time she was a young child. Her musical talents allowed her to cross from gospel to country to the blues and she continued playing and singing up until the last few years. Beverly also loved cooking and made it a point to assemble a cookbook of her many special recipes for her family.
She also had great love and compassion for her own pets and the many strays and animals in the wild who crossed her path over the years, feeding many on her front porch, her back yard and even in back alleys.
On May 8, 1982, Beverly married John A. (Jack) Cleary, with whom she shared many loving years, especially during their time together in Summerville, SC and abroad in Europe. Beverly loved her family dearly and they also loved her dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; her daughter, Tappey Whitsel (Brad); her sons, Jim Murray (Sherri) and Tim Murray (Dani); stepson, Sean Richardson; her grandchildren – Hannah, Rebecca, Caleb (Brooke), Molly, Amanda (Ben), Ryan (Peggy), Ayden, Kyle; nine great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephew.
