The Washington County Master Gardeners will offer free hands-on teaching in three gardens this Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center at 7303 Sharpsburg Pike in Boonsboro.
In the medicinal herb garden, guests will learn how to create herbal arrangements and make potato-themed crafts. In the 4-square garden, visitors will learn how to use potatoes to propagate woody plants and make a potato scarecrow. In the butterfly garden, guests will learn how to welcome birds, bats, bees and other beneficial insects to their gardens.

The lessons complement other teaching and activities during the Rural Heritage Museum’s annual SpudFest. https://www.ruralheritagemuseum.org/spud-fest-annual-potato-harvest-tradition.htm
