A former Hancock athlete is the nationally top ranked athlete in her sport and heading to nationals in the high jump.
Aiden Faith, who is a sophomore and competes at Hagerstown Community College, is ranked #1 in the country at the JUCO level after her recent win at Shenandoah University in Winchester.
Faith cleared 5’5”, which automatically qualified her for nationals.
Nationals for indoor tack and field will be held March 7 and March 8 at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.
In a text message to Interim Hancock Athletic Director Bill Sterner, which was shared with The Hancock News, Faith said she was “extremely grateful and blessed” to have the opportunity to go to the NJCAA Nationals.
“Every single coach I’ve had along the way has contributed to my athletic success thus far,” she said.
Being from a small town and small college makes Faith feel as though she has a chip on her shoulder when she competes against larger four-year schools, she said.
No matter who she is competing against, or how good the other team is, Faith always reminds herself it comes down to who whoever wants the victory more puts in the time, the dedication, the discipline, and the hard work.
“I plan to jump even higher and win even more!” Faith said.
