The Southern Fulton School District has a full schedule of events leading up to the first day of school for Southern Fulton students on Wednesday, August 21.
The school district has announced they will be providing school supplies to all students this year.
Southern Fulton School District serves roughly 720 students in grades pre-K to 12th grade.
“In an effort to support our students and families, the Southern Fulton School District will be providing all basic school supplies to all students for the upcoming academic year. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that every student has access to the tools they need to thrive in their studies, regardless of financial circumstances,” said the district in a public message to families.
“We understand that back-to-school shopping can be a stressful time for many families, and our goal is to alleviate some of that burden. By providing these supplies, we hope to create a more equitable learning environment where all students can focus on their education without worrying about having the necessary materials,” the district said.
Back to School events
Several events will let students get to know their teachers and schools ahead of the new year. They include:
Wednesday, August 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. 7th and New Student Orientation at Southern Fulton Jr./Sr. High School.
Thursday, August 15 5-7 p.m. Kindergarten Orientation at Southern Fulton Elementary.
Monday, August 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. Open House for grades 1-6 at Southern Fulton Elementary.
Wednesday, August 21. First Day of School for Southern Fulton students.
Thursday, August 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Secondary Transition Agency Night at Southern Fulton Jr./Sr. High School. Agencies will be on hand to talk about services available to support students’ transition to life after high school, including jobs, independent living, education and training. Groups in attendance will include the Office of Vocational Rehabilitiation, PA CareerLink, Center for Indepenent Living, Fulton County MH/ID Services, PaTTAN: Youth Engagement Specialists, Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11 and United Cerebral Palsy.
