Afterward, the meeting was put on hold as a small reception was held in Faith’s honor.

There is a new ranking officer within the Hancock Police Department.

At the beginning of the March 12, town meeting, Hancock Police Chief Rich Miller formally swore in Shawn Faith as the department’s newest sergeant.

Faith has been with the HPD since 2017, Miller said. “He’s been my confidant, my pal, and has done everything I’ve asked him to do,” Miller said.

After the official swearing in, Faith’s daughter, Emilee, pinned the sergeant badge on his uniform.

Following the ceremony, Mayor Roland Lanehart, Jr. closed the meeting for a 10-minute break for a small reception.
