Town Public Works crews demolished the Lions restroom building in Widmeyer Park over the course of two days last week. photo by Jody Crouse

If you drove by Widmeyer Park last Tuesday and Wednesday, you may have noticed some work being done by the Lions Pavilion and the restroom building beside it.

Hancock Public Work crews began the demolition of the bathroom on Tuesday, March 12, and finished the following day.

The Lions Club had given the town permission last year for them to tear the bathrooms down.

As for restrooms, the town has since retrofitted the former pool bathhouse for public restrooms, rendering the small restroom building obsolete.

Town Manager Mike Faith did note there was a cornerstone with engraving on the building that the town was going to keep in case there was someone who wanted it.
