Panthers sting Hundred Hornets for Homecoming overtime victory

Hancock roared to life on their home field for a Homecoming crowd on Friday, October 13, showing Panther fans what they had come for – a tenacious battle ending in victory. The Panthers topped the Hundred (W.Va.) Hornets 28-22, settling the final score in overtime play.

This was the Panther’s first win of the season, and players seemed intent on the win from the kickoff.

Hancock dominated the first half, rolling up a touchdown in each quarter to lead the Hornets 14-0 at halftime. But Hundred flew into the second half with their own touchdown, pushing back the Panther lead until a tie score forced overtime play.

Hundred and Hancock answered each other, adding eight points each in tandem, forcing another overtime faceoff that Hancock grabbed and delivered decisively for Homecoming fans.

Panther players will travel to Paden City (W.Va.) to meet the Wild Cats on their home turf this Thursday, October 19, with kick-off at 7 p.m.

Hancock will close their season at home against Clear Spring on Friday, October 27 at 7 p.m.
