The Hancock Panthers varsity football team lost to Southern Garrett 54-0 at home on Senior Night last Friday night, September 30.

“We got behind early and just could get anything going at all,” said Coach Ron Hare after the game.

“I know it’s been a rough one, but I’m still very proud of how far these kids have come, and how far the program has come,” Hare said in a post on the team’s social media page, noting that six players were out, and they still had plenty of subs for the game.

The Hancock Panthers marching band made their season debut on the football field during halftime.

Performing Thriller by Michael Jackson, the Panthers marching band has just returned from their performance of the Halloween classic at Universal Studios in Orlando.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the Panther band. They give it all they’ve got. They are a wonderfully talented group of kids,” said bandleader Susan Mott.

The Panther marching band will perform next during halftime for Homecoming on Friday night.

According to Mott, the band will perform “This is Halloween” from A Nightmare Before Christmas and the theme song from Ghostbusters.

Homecoming game is up next, with the Panthers hosting SEED School of Maryland this Friday, October 7. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Hancock High School
