Faith on administrative leave following misdemeanor charge

by Geoff Fox

Hancock mayor Roland Lanehart has confirmed that  town manager Mike Faith has been placed on an unpaid, three-week administrative leave.

According to online court documents, Faith was charged by summons with a misdemeanor charge of false statements to a police officer. The charges were filed on July 6 by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. No further details about the charges were available at press time.

Mayor Roland Lanehart said the charges stemmed from a personal matter, so he, nor councilmembers, would comment on Faith’s situation.

Lanehart responded to questions from The Hancock News about the matter in a phone interview on Monday.

He has said that he’s handling all of Faith’s duties during the leave, and anyone needing to contact him about an issue should call Town Hall at 301-678-5622 and town employees will get in touch with Lanehart.
