Folks learn about gardening and seeds

The Community Garden Workshop last Saturday, June 6, drew a number of people who enjoyed hands-on activities and learning about culinary herbs, raised bed gardening, seed starting, and natural pest control.

Pam Mann from the Hancock Library shared garden related story books and crafts with children while their parents attended classes.

Lunch was served at the end of the workshop and those who attended took home information packets, free seeds plants, grow bags, buckets, garden gloves, and plant labels.

Hancock Middle-Senior High School’s Greenhouse and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated the plants, organizers said.

Event organizers are planning on having another garden workshop next year on the first Saturday in June covering new topics.

If there are any suggestions for next year’s classes, organizers ask that you send them to justservehancock@gmail. com.
