The Hancock Panthers track team ended its season last week as it competed in the Maryland 1A West Regional meet in Smithsburg on Wednesday, May 13, and Friday, May 15.
Coach Greg Cartrette said Leland Clark set a personal best in the discus, placing eighth. Landyn Clark placed fifth in the triple jump.
Cartrette said each student-athlete put in great work this season, making it a great season to build on.

“What they accomplished this season with getting better in each meet and all of them achieving Personal Best in several meets is something for the future of Hancock Track and Field,” he said.

He said he’s proud of each one for making his first year as the head coach of Hancock outdoor track and field one to remember.
There were also two seniors Cartrette wanted to acknowledge as well.
Cartrette recognized Landyn Clark and Ethan Hill for being a part of the team and their leadership with their teammates.

“Both of you have big futures ahead of you in whatever is your next phase in life,” he said.
Coach Brittany Waugh also got a shout out from Cartrette for her work assisting him.

“Coach, you helped make this season a success and I could not have done it without you,” he said.
