Rotary brings back meter decorations

by Geoff Fox

For a number of years, the parking meters in Hancock were decorated by various organizations and businesses during the holiday season.

After a couple year hiatus, Hancock Rotary brought back the meter decorating with 33 of 44 meters having decorations welcoming the season.

“It was nice to bring this holiday activity back,” said January Weber. “I really appreciate everyone that decorated one!”

Weber said she thinks the decorations compliment the town’s lighted poles and that now that people have an understanding of what it entails, Rotary will have every pole reserved next year.

The meters were judged by a panel of Rotarians with no affiliations to any of the groups decorating the meters and selected their three favorites.

The meters that won a $25 prize were Main Street Motors with their Tire Snowman, Hendershot’s Sporting Goods and their Country Snowflake Garland, and Valley Electric’s Police Officer Nutcracker.
