Hancock students win art awards from museum show

Two students from Hancock Middle-Senior High School were recently announced as winners at the Secondary Art Show presented by the Washington County Museum of Fine Art.

Freshman Alliana Zambrano won the Artist Excellence and Innovation award for her photograph and eighth grader Annabelle Likely won the Artist Excellence and Innovation award for her ceramic sculpture.

This is the first time a Hancock student as earned an award in ceramic sculpture, said school officials.

It is also the first time the school has submitted photography work in the Washington County Museum of Fine Art’s show and earned an award.

Art teacher Craig Caldwell said Hancock is the only school in Washington County to have two students win the Artistic Excellence and Innovation Award.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our tremendously talented students!” Caldwell said.

The awards ceremony was held on April 30 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown.
