The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s office is looking for information regarding a vehicle fire along Interstate 70 on Saturday, May 3.
According to fire officials, the fire occurred just before midnight on Saturday, May 3, at the 6.5-mile marker on westbound I-70.
Fire officials said a passerby reported the 2015 white Hyundai Sonata on fire.
Four firefighters from Hancock Volunteer Fire Company were able to control the fire in about six minutes.
The fire started in the engine compartment and caused an estimated $8,000 in damage.
The Fire Marshal’s Office said the vehicle was located unoccupied on the side of the interstate and had been stolen from Hagerstown.
The fire is under investigation and anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to call the Western Regional Office at 301-766-3888.
