Search for new Hancock police chief underway

by Geoff Fox

Town officials have received eight or nine applications for the job of Hancock police chief since posting the job on April 16.

The posting comes after Chief Rich Miller said he’ d be retiring at the end of the year.

Town Manager Mike Faith said the deadline for applications for a replacement is set at May 31, which gives officials time to find the right person for the job.

As of right now, interviews have not taken place.

Faith said Mayor Roland Lanehart, Jr., town council members, Miller, and himself would be involved with the search.
