Berkeley Springs man charged in Fulton County assault

A Berkeley Springs man has been charged with strangulation after an incident in the Warfordsburg area on April 7.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers from the McConnellsburg barrack responded to a residence in the 200 block of Chickoy Lane in Warfordsburg around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7, for report of an assault that had occurred.

The victim told police that Ronnie Lee McHenry, 33, of Berkeley Springs, assaulted them by striking them in the head multiple times, strangled them with a t-shirt, and threatened to kill them while doing so.

McHenry was taken into custody and charged through Magisterial Judicial District Judge Tamela Mellott Heming.

According to online court documents, McHenry was charged with strangulation – applying pressure to throat or neck, terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, simple assault, harassment – subject other to physical contact, and disorderly conduct engage in fighting.

He was transported to Bedford County Jail, police said.

McHenry was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Monday, April 14.
