The Washington County Master Gardeners will hold a plant sale on Saturday, April 19, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center at 7303 Sharpsburg Pike in Boonsboro.
The plant sale will feature nearly 3,000 plants grown by Master Gardeners including perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs, native plants, trees, shrubs, fruits and houseplants.
A garden market will feature new and used gardening books, tools, art, gifts and supplies. A silent auction will spotlight dozens of garden items contributed by local businesses.
A 60-by-78-inch “Night Garden” quilt will be raffled off with a drawing on April 28.
Visitors also will get free gardening tips and learn about the Master Gardener program.
Children will explore a sensory garden and plant herbs with seeds and cuttings in the children’s learning area.
All funds raised by the plant sale support the gardening education programs of the Master Gardeners. Both cash and checks will be accepted.
The event will be held rain or shine. Come early for the best selection.
Volunteer educators with the University of Maryland Extension, Master Gardeners teach people safe, effective gardening practices that build healthy gardens and communities.
They give educational talks, create demonstration gardens, offer therapeutic horticulture programs, recognize Bay-Wise landscapes, and host information booths at community events.
