The Hancock Police Department responded to a report of multiple gunshots in the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and Washington Street on Tuesday, December 17.
Police arrived within minutes and were told by many residents that gunshots came from behind Grace Christian Fellowship Church at 130 North Pennsylvania Avenue.
Witnesses stated they heard the shots and then observed a dark-in-color SUV style vehicle flee the area.
Police said officers examined the area and found shell casings to the rear of the church. Residents also complained that after hearing the shots, their internet and phones stopped working.
With the help of the community, officers were able to locate a cable wire that was pierced by a bullet.
Following the trajectory of the bullet’s path, it was determined that a house on Fulton Street was the target of the shooting, said police.
The house struck by bullets was vacant at the time of the shooting, police said, and no one was injured in the incident.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Hancock Police Department at 301-678-5633.
