A clean up event has been set for July 27 as the Washington County Clean County Initiative and Creek Cleanup Project look to remove tires from the Potomac River area.
The event starts at 9 a.m. at the Hancock Boat Ramp and runs until 12 p.m. Volunteers will be floating down the river to a tire dump site to remove as many tires as they can carry in their boats.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own boats. Washington County and the Creek Cleanup Project will also provide boats to help float the tires downriver to the pull-out point.
The event also qualifies for students SSL hours.
