A light pole in front of 56 West Main Street and tree in front of 52 West Main Street were damaged when a wide load was coming through town.
The globe on top of the light pole was broken and shattered as a wide load tractor-trailer was coming by. A limb was broken off the tree as well.
Town Manager Mike Faith said the police department is doing an investigation to determine who hit the tree and light pole.
Faith said police have identified the driver and are wrapping up a few details.
“Once they have a suspect, I’ll inquire about compensation to the town or damages,” he said.
The trees hit by the wide load have been compromised and will have to be removed.
