The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is making preparations for the second annual Community Plant Giveaway to be held this coming June.
The event will be held at the church Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at 200 Douglas Street, in Hancock. Should there be rain, it will be moved inside.
There will be an array of vegetables, herbs, flowers, and seed to choose from and will be provided by six local greenhouses, congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Morgan County CEOS Garden Club.
The event will be held at the top of Douglas Street. There is parking and those attending will be asked to line up where they will be given a cardboard flat to put their plants.
Organizers do ask there be no early birds.
Master Gardeners from Washington County will also be present to answer gardening questions and hand out information to take home.
The Morgan County CEOS Garden Club will also be volunteering at the event and answering questions, sharing gardening tips and assisting in carrying flats if needed.
The event is hosted by the congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with the goal to bless the community by serving their neighbors while encouraging them to be self-reliant.
The theme for the event is “Plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them – Jeremiah 29:5.”
