Bridge over Creek Road to close Tuesday, April 9
by Geoff Fox
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will be performing patching and paving work on eastbound Interstate 68 at the Creek Road for one night, Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m., with all lanes reopening by 5 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, weather permitting. The work had been rescheduled from April 4 due to rain, followed by dropping temperatures.
With the eastbound lanes of the interstate closed, a detour will reroute drivers to take Exit 77, which would be Rt. 144, through Hancock and onto I-70 eastbound.
The SHA’s contractor, Triton Construction, Inc. of St, Albans, WV, will use variable message signs, cones, drums, and temporary traffic signs to guide motorists through the work zone.
The SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for their crews and their customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
They also ask drivers to drive like they work there and slow down in construction zones.
