Candidates announce their runs as deadline to run for office nears

 

 

 

 

 

Maryland candidates have just 10 days left to file to run for office, as the state’s candidate filing period closes on Friday, February 9 at 9 p.m.

Aspiring politicians have signed up for the 2024 election cycle, which includes the state’s party primary on May 14. In the primary election, voters in each political party will decide which of their party’s candidate will appear on the ballot for the General Election in November.

Also on May 14, voters will pick winners of the non-partisan race for the Washington County Board of Education.

As of the last day of 2023, Washington County had a total of 100,254 registered voters. Of those, 44,068 are registered Republican,

31,092 are registered Democrats, 23,315 are registered as Unaffiliated voters, 643 voters are Libertarian and another 1,136 are registered with some other party.
