Panther girls working toward first win

The Hancock Varsity Girls Basketball team heads into 2024 looking to put a game in the win column. The Lady Panthers stand at 0-4 as 2023 closed out with a loss to the Maryland School for the Deaf. Hancock shooters put 23 points on the board but fell short to the Orioles, who racked up 56 points on December 29 during tournament play at the Hancock Holiday Mixer. Panthers gathered 13 points in the first two quarters, but fell behind in the third quarter as the Orioles kept their momentum. Hancock rallied with sight points in the final quarter, but couldn’t catch up before the final buzzer.

The girls team fell to Fannett Metal on the road on December 20, with a score of 14-48.

The Lady Panthers will take the home court advantage this Friday, January 5 against Fort Hill.

Skylar Smith leads the Hancock team in scoring with an average of 13 points per game.
