Town officials unanimously voted to submit an application for a $43,000 grant to pay a professional firm to create the town’s comprehensive plan in the near future.
A public hearing was held before the December town meeting to introduce the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
The grant comes from the state of Maryland Department of Housing Community Development.
During the public hearing, Town Manager Mike Faith said the firm would get in touch with the town’s planning commission and write the comprehensive plan. From there, it would be up for approval by town officials.
The planning project will have to go out to bid if the town receives the grant.
In the public hearing, there were no comments from the citizens.
The town’s grant writer will submit the application for the grant.
