Much needed rain fell on the Hancock area on Thursday afternoon as part of a system rolling across the region. According to drought.gov, the Hancock area, and most of western Washington County, was in an abnormally dry spell. The site also said the area is 100% below the normal precipitation over the last 30 days. In all, about 58,710 people, or 38% of people, in Washington County have been affected by drought.
