Hancock Rotary will be planting flags again this year in Widmeyer Park near the memorial beginning June 29. They are accepting sponsorship for flags now.

Organizers said the public can sponsor an American flag for a past or present hero in the community.

The flags can honor military personnel, police, fire-fighters, first responders, teachers, mentors, family members or anyone that has been a hero to the sponsor.

On Thursday, June 29, the flags will be placed in a “Field of Flags” in Widmeyer Park near the Memorial and remain there through Wednesday, July 5.

Each flag costs a small donation to sponsor and will have the name of the hero and the sponsor will be attached to the flag.

Payments and completed sponsor form should be returned to Hancock Rotarians or mailed to Rotary Club of Hancock, P.O. Box 35, Hancock, MD 21750, or placed in the drop box at Good Shepherd Preschool, 170 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750.

The deadline for submitting a sponsorship is Friday, June 16.
