Larry Steven McCusker
1948-2023
Larry Steven McCusker, age 75, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, April 28, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Care Facility in Kearneysville, W.Va.
Born March 2, 1948 in Little Orleans, Md., he was the son of the late James Andrew and Almeda Virginia McGowan McCusker.
He was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hancock, Md. Larry served in the United States Army Reserves. He worked as a District Wildlife Manager with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources until his retirement after 30 years of service. Larry was a man of many trades from building a home for his family, running numerous side businesses and working on cars. He was especially proud of his son’s General Lee car. Larry enjoyed hunting deer and turkey and growing a garden.
Larry is survived by his three children, Brent S. McCusker and his wife, Eileen of Morgantown, W.Va., Brianne P. McCusker whom he called his Annie and her wife, Lacy of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Bryce A. McCusker and his wife, Alicia of Berkeley Springs, his seven loving grandchildren, Faith Anderson Sexton, Grace McCusker, Ian McCusker, Blake McCusker, Jaydin Ruppenthal, Claire McCusker and Bryce A. McCusker and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois A. Trumpower and Shirley Myers and two brothers, William McCusker and Charles P. McCusker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 16 E. High Street, Hancock, Md., with Rev. Fr. John J. Lombardi as celebrant. Military honors will be provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where a rosary service will be recited at 7 p.m.
