County seeks zoning appeals board members

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applicants interested in serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA).

Applicants should be passionate and knowledgeable about the land use process.

The court-like role of the Board of Zoning Appeals is to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative office in regard to the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance, the Forest Conservation Ordinance, or of any other ordinance adopted by the County.

The Board also hears and decides on special exceptions and variance requests outlined in the Zoning Ordinance.

All board members must complete required online training regarding The Smart and Sustainable Growth Act of 2009 within six months of placement on the board. Washington County residency is required.
