Spring sports season kicks off at Hancock High School

The spring 2023 sports season opened on Wednesday, March 1 at Hancock High School.

“This spring we will be offering varsity girls’ softball, varsity boys’ baseball, and varsity boys’ and girls’ outdoor track and field,” announced Athletic Director Kermit Moyer on the school’s website.

Outdoor track and field head coach is Ron Hare, who is also the Panthers’ head football coach.

Varsity boys’ baseball head coach is Rocky Wills. His assistant coaches are Dustin Trumpower and Scott Buskirk.

Varsity girls’ softball head coach is Todd Ruppenthal, who is also the school’s girls’ varsity basketball coach. His assistant softball coach is Glenn Rau.

Baseball and softball season opener was Tuesday, March 21 at 4:45 p.m. on the diamonds at Hancock High School.

The Panthers boys’ varsity baseball team took on Northern Garrett County, and the girls’ varsity softball team hosted Saint Maria Goretti.

The Panthers outdoor track and field team travels to North Hagerstown High School on Friday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m. to compete in the Smithsburg invitational.
