Register to vote by next Tuesday, October 18

Local residents who want to take part in casting a ballot in the November 8 general election have until this coming Tuesday, October 18 to register to vote with the Maryland Board of Elections or the Washington County Board of Elections. Those who are registered to vote but want to change their party affiliation or update their voter information (like an address), have until October 18 to make those changes as well.

Early voting in Maryland will be held for eight days, starting on Thursday, October 27 and running through Thursday, November 3.

Voting in person during those times will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Washington County residents can vote at one of two early voting centers in the county – both in Hagerstown. The county’ s early voting centers are located at the Washington County Election Center at 17718 Virginia Avenue in Hagerstown and at Washington County Free Library at 100 S. Potomac Street in Hagerstown.

Voters who want to cast a ballot by mail have until November 1 to request a mail-in ballot. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked or placed in a designated ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 8. A ballot drop box is located in Hancock Town Hall at 126 West High Street.

Election day voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at assigned polling places. In Hancock, voters will go to the Hancock Middle-Senior High School at 289 West Main Street.
