A Morgan County Sheriff’s officer responded to a call from McDonald’s on Saturday, June 4 at about 8 p.m. of a female in her 30’s on drugs who refused to leave. She later left when told that police were alerted.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Courthouse by Sgt. Scott Lemon, the subject was located outside the Verizon store showing signs and symptoms of opiate/methamphetamine use.
The woman, identified as Elizabeth S. McCusker, 24, of Hancock, was reportedly bleeding from the neck with severe swelling in her lower leg. She was transported to War Memorial Hospital by
EMS, where hospital workers later reportedly found drug paraphernalia in her bedding.
McCusker’s mother reportedly met police at the hospital and requested to have her daughter involuntarily committed.
With nobody to take her upon medical release, according to the criminal com plaint, McCusker was arrested and charged with trespassing, possession of a controlled substance, and public intoxication.
McCusker then later re- fused to be fingerprinted, resulting in a third charge. She is currently incarcerated and awaiting a hearing in the matter.
