The Hancock Police Department is asking the public’s help in identifying or has information regarding a theft from a local business and damage to a gate at the playground at Town Hall.
The first incident occurred at the playground at Town Hall.
According to the HPD’s social media post, three gates were damaged, and mulch thrown across the sidewalk and into the basement vents.
“This type of behavior is disappointing and costly to our community,” police said in the post.
They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could help identify those responsible to contact Town Hall at 301-678-5622.
Police said assistance is appreciated as they work to keep the town’s public spaces safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone.
The second incident occurred last Saturday morning, October 3, around 11:15 a.m. at Mr. Hardware.

Police are investigating a reported theft that occurred there and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, have information regarding the theft, or can identify the truck or individual to contact Officer Jesse Walls at [email protected].
The pickup is a white Chevy Silverado with an extended cab and was pulling a trailer on the day the alleged theft occurred.
The suspect is described as white man with a white/gray beard and was wearing a light green hoodie.
All information provided will be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
