Glenda “Marlene” Barnhart
1939-2026
Glenda “Marlene” Barnhart, 86, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Saturday, October 28, 1939, in Little Orleans, Md., she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Dorothy DeShong Golden.
Marlene graduated as the Valedictorian from Flintstone High School, Class of 1957.
She ran the family business, Barnhart’s General Store, for over forty years.
Marlene was best known as being a shelter and a safe place for everyone. She was the embodiment of generosity and shared her Christ-like love with everyone she encountered.
She was a member of the Hancock Assembly of God. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and loved her dogs. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Marlene is survived by one son, James R. Barnhart, Jr. and wife Tracy of Clear Spring, Md.; one daughter, Kimberly D. Barnhart-Hulock and husband Steven of Chambersburg, Pa.; four grandchildren, Ty “Bo” Divelbliss, Alexandra Barnhart, Christian Barnhart and Elijah Barnhart; four great-grandchildren, Hank Divelbliss, Isabella Divelbliss, Minnie Barnhart, and Callum Barnhart; and two brothers, Leslie Golden and Maple Golden.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband, James Barnhart, Sr.; one infant daughter; one grandson, Timothy Divelbliss; one sister, Carol “Hope” Ritz; and one brother, Thomas Golden.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Hancock Assembly of God, 431 N Pennsylvania Ave., Hancock, MD 21750. Pastor Delmas Bard will officiate.
