Hancock falls to Indians 38-8 in cross-river opener

Hancock Panther football made the most of a Berkeley Springs fumble during last Friday’s cross-river rivalry to put a touchdown on the board against the Indians in the second quarter. The Panthers followed up with a two-point rush conversion, pushing the score to 8-13 in the September 5 game in Berkeley Springs.

The Tribe responded with a rushing touchdown at the end of the second quarter, then recovered a Panther fumble to turn the tide further to their home advantage.

With under a minute to go before halftime, Berkeley Springs completed a passing touchdown, driving the score to Hancock 8, Indians 25.

A Hancock kick off in the third quarter turned quickly into another rushing touchdown by the Indians, followed by a second offensive rush, putting victory out of reach for Hancock’s Panthers by the end of the third quarter.

Berkeley Springs closed out the matchup on top, 38-8.

Hancock will host Southern from Oakland, Md. this Friday, September 12 at home.
