John DeMarinis, Jr.

1935-2026

John DeMarinis, Jr., age 91, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Harmony at Martinsburg and while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born April 5, 1935 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late John and Assunta Percoco DeMarinis.

He attended Cedar Grove Christian Church.

John was a high school graduate.

He served with the United States Army during the Korean War. John worked as a truck driver.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483 and Fraternal Order of Eagles. John enjoyed going to auctions, dancing, car shows and loved going out to eat and taking care of his home.

John is survived by his children, Maritza Rose Miller (Steve) and John Paul DeMarinis (Angela) all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., two brothers, Pete DeMarinis of Long Island, N.Y. and Joe DeMarinis of Bluffton, S.C., six grandchildren, Vanessa Rose Fox (Derrick) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Amanda Lea Simpson (Sam) of Morgantown, W.Va., Stephanie Alyssa Miller and her companion, EJ Norris of Martinsburg, W.Va., Johnathan Daniel DeMarinis (Elizabeth), Jordin Sue DeMarinis and Jasin Paul DeMarinis, all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., five great-grandchildren, Meghan Rose Runge (Brendan), Taylor Lillian Fox, Avery Deion Simpson, Giovanni DeMarinis and Lorenzo DeMarinis and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Mona Asfar DeMarinis and one brother, Frank DeMarinis.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Timothy B. Close. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 and on Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
