McCarty completes Basic Cadet Training for U.S. Air Force

Isidora McCarty of Hancock is going to be flying high pretty soon as she recently completed Basic Cadet Training for the United States Air Force.

McCarty was in Basic Cadet Training from June 24 through August 5 and was accepted into the Air Force Academy on August 5.

Hancock resident and South Hagerstown High School graduate Isidora McCarty recently completed Basic Cadet Training for the United States Air Force and has plans to attend flight school.

She went from Basic Cadet to C4C, or Cadet 4th Class, upon her completion.

Right now, McCarty has an undeclared major, but has plans to go to flight school.

She is also an expert marksman.

McCarty is a Hancock resident who went to Hancock Elementary before taking on a magnet program at South Hagerstown High School.

She also helped the Hancock Parks and Rec committee with their volleyball program.

McCarty graduated from South High in 2026 with a 4.43 weighted GPA, earning AP Scholar, Scholar Athlete, and Distinguished Honor Roll recognition throughout high school.

During her high school career, McCarty served as Class President, National Honor Society Vice President, Student Government Vice President, and held multiple other student leadership positions.

McCarty was also a two-sport captain, earning MVP honors in tennis and volleyball, a Washington County Girls Singles Tennis champion, and twice named First Team All-County in tennis.

She is the daughter of Eddie and Alicia McCarty.
