The Historic Woodmont Lodge west of Hancock will hold its annual Open House on Sunday, September 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Located at 11761 Woodmont Road, the lodge is an historically important hunting club and property that has welcomed well-known figures throughout its operations.
The lodge and lands surrounding are overseen now by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service in conjunction with the Izaak Walton League.
Visitors will have an opportunity to talk with members of the Izaak Walton League and the Maryland DNR about the history of the lodge, its importance and the early days of conservation in Maryland.
