Two weeks after close to 20 cats died in Hancock from unknown causes, Washington County Humane Society investigators have made their findings in what was to blame for the feline fatalities.
In a phone call to the Washington County Humane Society Field Services on Friday, July 24, the Hancock News was told there were no signs of poisoning of the cats in the areas of Jackson Street, Washington Street, and Virginia Avenue.
The organization said the deaths were an isolated incident in an isolated area.
It is in their thinking that a cat illness caused the cluster of deaths instead of poisoning.
Since those initial calls, there haven’t been any calls from Hancock residents regarding cat illnesses, the Humane Society said.
