Carroll Philip Peck
1946-2026
Carroll Philip “John Gobble” Peck, age 79, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at War Memorial Hospital.
Born December 9, 1946 in Great Cacapon, W.Va., he was the son of the late Curtis Brook and Eva Zorich Peck.
He attended Berkeley Springs High School.
Gobble was an over the road truck driver with his CB radio handle being “Mountain Man.” He started his truck driving career at T.H. Compton when they had their location in Great Cacapon, W.Va. before moving to Berkeley Springs, W.Va. After working with T.H. Compton, he went to drive with Klockner Pentaplast of America in Gordonsville, Va. until his retirement.
Gobble enjoyed watching In the Kitchen with David and watching westerns.
Carroll is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Anna Marie Fritzman Peck, at home, one son, Jeremy Phillip Peck of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., one brother, Kenneth Douglas “Poke” Peck of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., many nieces and nephews and his fur baby, Marilynn and two fur grand babies, Sasha Jo and Sunni Rae.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Connie Martain, Deborah Elaine Peck and Mary Etta Youngblood and two brothers, Curtis S. Peck and James Norman Peck.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Rodney Truax officiating. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 & 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. There will be a Jr. O.U.A.M. memorial service conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
